Client
A globally recognized central bank and an award-winning design and innovation studio
Project Scope
Contributed to research phases for a multi-year project exploring the design and adoption of a universally accessible digital currency. My focus was on engaging with a subsegment of residents through diary studies and workshops to uncover cultural nuances and validate design prototypes.
Challenge
Designing a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) required understanding the attributes of cash that citizens value, the barriers to adopting digital currencies, and how to ensure accessibility for all users, from the tech-savvy to the underbanked.
Approach
Diary Studies: Moderated remote diary studies with participants to understand their daily interactions with money and openness to new financial technologies.
Workshops: Led validation workshops in French, gathering feedback from residents on early design prototypes for a digital currency.
Cultural Nuance: Integrated insights specific to a culture, emphasizing local trust factors, accessibility challenges, and adoption motivators.
Results
While my primary role was data collection, the findings contributed to shaping early design iterations for the CBDC.
The insights I gathered informed the client’s understanding of regional needs, fostering more inclusive and culturally attuned design solutions.
